Macht

Das bedeutet mehr Macht für die Kommission und das Europäische Parlament und weniger Macht vor allem für die nationalen Parlamente.

Amongst other things, this means giving more power to the Commission and the European Parliament and less power, first and foremost, to the national parliaments. At the same time, majority votes will be the norm.

Da sprach Pilatus zu ihm: Redest du nicht mit mir? Weißt du nicht, daß ich Macht habe, dich zu kreuzigen, und Macht habe, dich loszugeben?

So andere dieser Macht an euch teilhaftig sind, warum nicht viel mehr wir? Aber wir haben solche Macht nicht gebraucht, sondern ertragen allerlei, daß wir nicht dem Evangelium Christi ein Hindernis machen.

If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

Persönlich glaube ich, dass es sich um die klassische Situation handelt, und natürlich geben Männer ihre Macht nicht freiwillig ab, so wie es uns Frauen außerordentlich schwer fällt, die so genannte Macht über die Kinder abzugeben.

Personally, I believe it is the classic situation. Naturally, men do not voluntarily relinquish power, just as we women also find it extremely difficult to give up so-called power over our children.
